APPLICATION DEADLINE: Aug 14 | 5 PM

CLASSES BEGIN: Sept. 18

Pens to Pictures is an intensive “writing movies” workshop created by filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu with its own radical story—check out the forthcoming Director’s Dialogue on our fall highlights page for more about that. For 10 Girls/10 Weeks, we’re adapting Chukwu’s college-level program to create a small-group workshop designed for younger aspiring writers and filmmakers ages 12–18.

Each participant in 10 Girls/10 Weeks will complete a script for a short film, enjoy local research trips, meet professionals in the field, analyze films together, and engage in lots of writing and editing. The workshop will culminate in a reception that features readings of the new scripts by a professional local actor.

Interviews for 10 Girls/10 Weeks are scheduled the week of August 28, 2017. The ten finalists will be notified on September 4. Columbus-area middle and high school students are strongly encouraged to apply. For more information or to request an application please contact Jean Pitman at (614) 292-4614 or jpitman@wexarts.org.  Program is FREE.
