Visit COSI’s Tech Studio to explore 3D modeling, videography, music creation, digital art, coding, and more. Free hours are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays. COSI is located at 333 W Broad Street in Columbus, OH.
COSI’s Tech Studio offers instruction on lighting, filming, and editing techniques through the use of professional-grade DSLR cameras, lenses, green screens, and Adobe’s Premiere software. Working collaboratively with WOSU Public Media, Tech Studio mentors have strong videography backgrounds.
3D Modeling / Printing
Tech Studio features multiple 3D printers and various 3D modeling software. Mentors can offer instruction on design, scanning, and 3D printer functionality.
Tech Studio offers platforms for 2D animation/motion graphics, 3D animation, and stop-motion animation. Through the use of the studio’s audio and video equipment, animations can be edited and voiceovers/music added to create a complete animation project.
Using Apple’s Logic Pro and GarageBand software and audio freeware, COSI’s Tech Studio is a fully outfitted audio production space that allows users to develop their skills in making beats with a virtual instruments, using microphones to record voices and acoustic instruments, and polishing audio projects through the process of editing and mixing.
Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Tech Studio mentors can offer instruction on graphic design, photo editing, and converting pen & paper art to a digital format. The studio is equipped with a vinyl cutter, laser cutter, and drawing tablets.
Tech Studio offers an introduction to basic coding using MIT’s scratch platform, focusing on common control structures, code organization, and program flow. Studio mentors can also offer instruction on coding for micro-controllers, using the Arduino coding language (a branch of C/C++) to control lights and motors.
